TULSA, Oklahoma – A basic bilingual computer course aimed at Hispanic students who are high school graduates is being offered for the first time by the Indian Capital Technology Center in Muskogee.
The goals of the “Introduction to Computers” course are to develop basic computer skills and to learn commonly used terminology in both English and Spanish.
“This is the first time that ICTC starts a bilingual technology course directed at Hispanics,” said González. Classes began Feb. 1.
González said the combination of studying and hands-on computer practice with language instruction will expand his students’ horizons and result in greater work opportunities for them. He said students complete the course in four weeks and earn a certificate and 18 hours of credit.
Cost of the course is $94, which includes registration, a textbook and a workbook. A second 18-credit course is $46.
González said an introductory course is started each month, and the next level of coursework begins after students complete the first course.
